Playbill and The Broadway League are proud to announce additional performers and presenters for ¡Viva Broadway! Hear Our Voices, a digital concert in celebration of Latinx Heritage Month as well as Latinx milestones in theatre, featuring an extraordinary roster of award-winning stage and screen Latinx talent. Hosted by Andréa Burns (In the Heights, On Your Feet!), the concert will premiere at Playbill.com/Viva, Playbill’s YouTube Channel and on The Broadway League’s website (Viva.Broadway) on Thursday October 1, 2020 at 8PM ET and remain available for viewing until Monday October 5 at 8PM ET.
¡Viva Broadway! will feature appearances by Pulitzer Prize winner Nilo Cruz (Anna in the Tropics) and Jon Secada (Cabaret), and performances from Rubén Blades (The Capeman) and Ricky Rojas (Moulin Rouge!).
¡Viva Broadway! Hear Our Voices will salute the vibrant, lasting legacy that Latinx artists have contributed and continue to give to Broadway and the entire theatre community while showcasing Latinx talent in an effort to continue to increase representation throughout the industry.
Directed and choreographed by Olivier and Tony Award®-winning director/choreographer Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys, Ain’t Too Proud), this theatrical event will include a look at the first Spanish-language production of A Chorus Line, featuring a performance by Academy, Emmy and Tony Award® nominee Antonio Banderas. He will be joined by Angie Alcázar, Kristina Alonso, Miguel Ángel Belotto, Albert Bolea, Lucía Castro, Javier Cid, Aaron Cobos, Anna Coll, Fran Del Pino, Daniel Délyon, Alberto Escobar, Roberto Facchin, Pol Galcerà, Daniel Garod, Diana Girbau, Cassandra Hlong, Juan José Marco, Fernando Mariano, Enric Marimon, Graciela Monterde, Fran Moreno, Beatriz Mur, Marcela Nava, Ivo Pareja-Obregón, Lucrecia Petraglia, Pablo Puyol, Estibalitz Ruiz, Zuhaitz San Buenaventura, Tricia Aida Sánchez, Lorena Santiago and Sarah Schielke.
The event will include a performance from members of the original cast of In the Heights, including Andréa Burns, Janet Dacal, Robin De Jesús, Carlos Gomez, Christopher Jackson, Nina LaFarga, Olga Merediz, Karen Olivo, Eliseo Román and Luis Salgado, led by Anthony Ramos, star of the upcoming In the Heights film adaptation.
¡Viva Broadway! will also include performances from Broadway-bound musicals and new works including Arrabal, featuring Soledad Buss (Forver Tango), Juan Cupini (Arrabal) and Mica Spina (Rascasuelos); Passing Through, featuring Joan Almedilla (The King and I), Reed Armstrong (Miss Saigon), Max Chernin (Bright Star), Ryan Duncan (Shrek the Musical), Linedy Genao (On Your Feet), Charles Gray (The Bodyguard), Garrett Long (Dear Evan Hansen), Mary Jo Mecca (Amour), Celeste Rose (We Are the Tigers), Jim Stanek (Fun Home) and Jennifer Leigh Warren (Rent: Live); and John Leguizamo’s Kiss My Aztec!, featuring Angelica Beliard (Summer: The Donna Summer Musical), Chad Carstarphen (Between the Bars), KC de la Cruz (Smokey Joe’s Café), Zachary Infante (Alice By Heart), Yani Marin (“Empire”), Jesús E.
