Queens Botanical Garden and the Winter Solstice

QBG Hosts Winter Solstice Celebration and Tree Lighting On Sunday, December 8, 2013 Queens Botanical Garden invites all to join us from 12:30 to 5pm as we ring in the Holiday Season with a family-friendly event to celebrate the Winter Solstice! Come and enjoy live musical performances, botanical craft workshops, photos with Santa, seasonal refreshments, a Garden Tour, special sales in our Holiday Marketplace, and a tree lighting ceremony.

Admission to this event is FREE– note that the Garden does not charge admission November 1-March31.

Winter Solstice Schedule of Events:

12:30 -5pm: (all day) Holiday marketplace sales with craft vendors and the QBG Store. Refreshments and treats for purchase from La Bella Torte.

12:30-4:30: Photos with Santa (fees start at $10; must be on line by 4pm)

1-2pm: Tour the Garden in winter and see what is still awake in our dormant season

2-4pm: Botanical craft activities will include the creation of fragrant citrus pomanders and bees wax candles (while supplies last; additional fee for materials).
3-4pm: Concert by the Rough Dozen, a talented and dynamic all male a cappella ensemble, performing seasonal songs in our Auditorium. Become a “Roughian” and enjoy this special choral treat!

4:30-5pm: Tree Lighting ceremony and Sing-Along

Musical performances are in association with the Kupferberg Center for the Arts at Queens College.

On-site parking is available in the Parking Garden is available (separate fees apply) and street parking is nearby. QBG is accessible via the Q44 and Q22 buses and the Main Street/Flushing stop of both the LIRR and the #7 train.
