La clausura es en el Village East Cinema de la segunda avenida y la calle 12 en Manhattan. Se presenta la película Maixabel de Icíar Bollaín y se entregan los premios Havana Star Prize con la actriz cubana y modelo Sissi Fleitas.

La alfonbra roja comienza a las 5:30 de la tarde y la película sobre la organización ETA se proyectará a partir de las 6:30 PM.

La noche de la clausura habrá una fiesta de solo invitados que cuenta con el patrocinio del Centro Español Rey Juan Carlos I de la Universidad de Nueva York (NYU).

Preceding the screening is the momentous Havana Star Prize Awards Ceremony to trophy the nineteen films competing for the 11th Havana Star Prize in Best Film, Director, Screenplay, Actor/Actress, and Documentary, chosen by a jury of influential figures in the film industry. In the Fiction category are Cuban producer Ivonne Cotorruelo, Colombian animator/director Miguel Rueda and NY-based artist and filmmaker Willard Morgan. In the Documentary category are Spanish producer Marina Fernandez Ferri, professor of political science Joe Rollins and Cuban filmmaker and film critic Carlos Barba.

WHO: Urko Olazabal, born in Bilbao in 1973, is a Basque actor, film editor, and screenwriter. His filmography as an actor includes Ira/Wrath (dir. Jota Aronak), Anne is Missing (dir. Irrati Deklarazioak) and most recently, Icíar Bollaín’s Maixabel. He is currently the Chief of Studies at Bilboko Zine-Interpretazio Eskola (BZIE), an acting school he founded in Bilbao.

Fernando Travesí is the Executive Director of the International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ), with over 20 years of international experience in transitional justice, human rights, and rule of law, working for both international organizations and NGOs. He is moreover a recognized novelist and playwright, winning awards such as the Spanish National Prize of Theater.

Sissi Fleitas, considered one of the most beautiful Latin women by People Magazine is an internationally renowned Cuban-American actress, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, whose versatile career includes an 8-year run as the protagonist on Univision’s hit show “Sábado Gigante”.

The Havana Film Festival NY (www.HFFNY.com), a project of The American Friends of the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba (www.AFLFC.org), is back in theaters to present an exceptional program of 32 films celebrating the diversity of voices and cultural expressions of Ibero America and its diaspora through inspiring stories on the big screen, November 5-11, 2021. All screenings, panels, and special events take place in-person at the Village East Cinema (181-189 2nd Avenue, NYC). Festival guests, attendees, and staff are required to be fully vaccinated and must wear a mask at all times except while eating.
