Elected officials and executives from New York Hospital Queens (NYHQ) and the Silvercrest Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, celebrated the opening of the NYHQ Center for Wound Healing at Silvercrest. The new Center is one of only two comprehensive wound healing centers in Queens.
The Center addresses the increasing need for more aggressive wound treatment for people with hard-to-treat chronic wounds such as pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers and radionecrosis. The Center’s staff use some of the most advanced techniques, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy. According to the Center for Wound Healing, Inc., 85 percent of diabetic patients facing the risk of amputation, who receive hyperbaric oxygen therapy, can avoid having an amputation.
New York Hospital Queens is a member of the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System and an affiliate of the Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
