Queens Bolivian community leaders, including Bolivian Civic Cultural Center President Angel Rino Romero, endorsed Council Member Peter F. Vallone Jr. for Queens Borough President. Members of the center pledged to openly campaign on behalf of Vallone’s campaign in the coming months.
Romero said, “Peter F. Vallone Jr. is the only candidate who has made a concerted effort to reach out to the Bolivian community and include us in the conversation about building one, united Queens. Council Member Vallone has a track record of fighting for all, not just some. That’s why the Bolivian community stands with Peter.”
Vallone thanked the Bolivian community and acknowledged them as a growing community that has helped spur economic development and make valuable cultural contributions to the borough.
“Queens is the most diverse borough in the city and it’s important that we celebrate that diversity,” said Vallone. “We are so fortunate to have over two hundred ethnic groups represented in our borough and the Bolivian community is a huge part of the greater Queens family – helping enrich our local commerce, culture and the arts. I am honored to have their support – gracias Bolivianos!”
Queens is home to the Bolivian Day Parade that runs along 37th Avenue in Jackson Heights every August.
