Corona Youth Music Project’s “Concert of Light” at the Queens Museum of Art

Corona Music ProjectJoin the Corona Youth Music Project as they light up the newly reopened Queens Museum of Art. On December 13th at 7pm, the Corona Youth Music Project will perform its Concert of Light: the first event to feature all 150 of its students in performance.

Beginning in 2010 with a bucket band of 15 students, the Corona Youth Music Project has since grown to include two orchestras, an orchestra initiation program, and a chorus. The Concert of Light will feature performances from all four ensembles, and it will also recognize many of its generous donors and sponsors.

The Concert of Light will be hosted by the Queens Museum of Art, which reopened on November 9th after completing its 5 year renovation. Attendees of the event will be able to view the Queens Museum of Art’s recent expansion, which includes an additional 50,000 square feet in galleries, studios, and the new sky-lit atrium.

The Corona Youth Music Project was founded in 2010 to empower youth, fight poverty, and promote social inclusion through music education and performance. It is the first organization in Queens that is part of “El Sistema,” a global movement of music for social change. The Corona Youth Music Project currently serves 150 students, ranging from ages 4 to 15. All classes and instruments are offered free of charge.

This is a non-ticketed event, but donations will be accepted.
