FreeMAT has been actively involved in collecting donations for the United States Armed Forces personnel since April 2002. The toys will be distributed to the children of deployed Army personnel from Fort Totten in Queens and other local reserve bases in the greater New York region.
FreeMAT announced it will be collecting toys of any kind (new and not gift wrapped) now through December 16. Stephen S. Mills, President & Chief Executive Officer, NYHQ, thanked the members of the military for their service and pledged the hospital’s continued support for the families of those who serve in the military.
NYC Comptroller John Liu stated he has participated in the toy drive since its inception in 2002 and that he will continue to support the initiative every year going forward.
Founder of FreeMAT Peter Kwiath, Assistant Supervisor of Paramedic / EMTs at the hospital, stated: “We plan to continue this program until every man and woman serving in the military returns home.”
