Remington’s World and Andrew Morel Productions along with Monstre MGMT will continue their Rising Icons series with the debut of the On the Rise Artist Black Carpet Showcase, a presentation of the best up-and-coming artists from different genres in the New York City area on Thursday, March 15th at Soél Club & Lounge in Queens. Sponsored by Dewar’s® Blended Scotch Whisky, the aptly named “On the Rise Artist Showcase” is designed to highlight unique and deserving acts amidst a host of music industry gatekeepers. The event will feature music by Lo Maximo Productions DJ Rob TV and the renowned Dewar’s MasterBlenders-DJ Shadee of Music Choice and Musica Urbana & Music Choice Mixtape Channels – and the Dewar’s models. The evening will also serve as the official farewell party for the Winter Music Conference. The semi-annual artist showcase will spotlight R&B singer Dawin, Pop/Electro/Crunk group MDPC, Latin Pop group Rok Ferries, Hip Hop artist Glamz, and Reggaeton artists Lyon La Diferencia and Oniel Anubis. Brooklyn’s own Dawin grew up in the midst of tropical sounds from his native country and the emerging pop artists of his time. The Dominican-American singer, songwriter, and producer was strongly influenced by music from Beyonce, Jay-Z, Ne-Yo, Alicia Keys, Michael Jackson, Biggie Smalls, James Brown to John Mayer and Juan Luis Guerra. MDPC quartet composed of Ralph, Will, Oz and Nick who work coherently alongside their co-producer Dawin bring their fun and energetic vibe to any performance. Their rich Dominican-Puerto Rican heritage combined with the gritty New York metropolitan has influenced their music with tropical rhythms as well as a touch of emerging underground sounds. Will and Dawin have been producing and writing for other acts while N Breeze, Spudz, and Oz have been lighting up the club scene with their DJ/MC skills. MDPC has recently gained international recognition in London and Australia with recent collaborations with electronic music producers Larry Tee and Stafford Brothers.
Complementing the all men line up will be the spicy Latina pop group Rok Ferries-Alejandra, Kendri, Jasmine, Lauren and Gigi. The sassy singer-dancers bring an exhilarating “it” factor that is simply undeniable. These New York Latinas have opened up for pop and reggae sensation Sean Kingston, Latin mega-star Zion and been a featured act at the most recent Puerto Rican Day Festival. Dominican rapper Glamz adds his killer metaphors and versatile flow to the showcase. The Corona Queens-based artist, who has been mastering his craft alongside up-and-coming artists JK-47 and Willie Velazquez, is taking the stage to perform music from his upcoming mixtape. Urban artist Lyon La Diferencia adds his signature reggaeton flair to the Latin hip-pop lineup. The New York songwriter has completed more than seven tours in Canada, Dominican Republic and United States and released more than eight independent albums. His singles No Le Digas Que No with KO and Goddam Records and Bun Bararun Bararin have received radio air play La Mega 97.9FM and X96.3FM and has collaborated with artists Fulanito, Fuego, Vakero and producer KO El Mas Completo. Reggaeton artist Oniel Rosario, better known in New York as “Oniel Anubis,” brings passion for poetry, rhymes, metaphors, among other things relating to art of the composition to the bill. The Dominican born composer is influenced by Vico C, Michael Jackson, 2Pac, DMX, Tempo, Juan Luis Guerra, Ricardo Arjona, Alejandro Sanz, Natch Scratch. Anubis has been featured on several mixtapes including “8mm” with Temperamento, El Alfra, J King y Maximan. Doors open at 10pm and show time begins at 11:30pm sharp. Tickets are $15 at the door.
