Panel on Local News Deserts This Thursday 6th at 6:00 PM

Javier Castaño, QueensLatino’s director, will participate in a panel on the importance of local news this Thursday 6th. Everyone is invited to participate. It is at 6:00 P.M. Big media corporations never took care of our community information necessities, and now they are “abandoning” our neighborhoods. Columbia University is the alma mater of Javier Castaño.

With vast changes in the very landscape of journalism and newsrooms, covering news at the level required and building a loyal, engaged audience is among the toughest challenges. Many feel strongly that local news reporting has become more crucial than ever. How can journalists operate in this environment and what are the most fruitful ways of running newsrooms to create impactful work? Join this panel to hear how reporters and newsroom managers are tackling these issues.
